Yes, I’m back at it yet again.
The words mental health conjure up very similar things to people who lack understanding in what these words truly mean.
However, being on the other side of the spectrum invokes something very similar.
Those of us hip hop fans who came up during the golden age often discuss bridging the gap between us and the youngsters.
Those who struggle with mental illness suffer from similar adversities.
It’s hard to explain to someone who has no understanding of your viewpoint or values what it means to truly understand people.
We all have similar struggles to varying degrees. That’s why it’s so important to bring the gap between those who know little and those who have knowledge.
This doesn’t just apply to mental health. It could apply to any situation or issue that people disagree on. Politics and religion are two examples of things where it is quite rare to find two or three people that agree on anything.
There are no absolutes in life, much less with mental health. Everyone struggles, yet to varying degrees. Some have extreme problems, while others are more manageable.
I spoke of having a support system in my earlier post. It’s also very important to have hobbies and interests that keep you busy and intellectually stimulated. It’s hard for those who struggle to keep our minds off the very struggles we all face on a daily basis.
Bridging the gap is much more than a loaded term.
It’s what needs a lot of work in a lot of different areas.
No two people are the same. No two situations have the same outcome.
If you look at society today, there’s so little love and so much hate. So much disagreement. So little that we agree on.
Bridging the gap has more meaning than ever before.
