Music Ownership (Part 2)

Good morning all.

I was gonna write an article about the albums that had the biggest impact on me in the 90s, but that's a story I'm going to put off a little longer, until I put a list together and can narrow it down to the five albums that I felt the most, both on a personal, as well as a musical level.

Today, I want to touch on music ownership a little more.

So, I'll start here. I told you all yesterday about how I got back into owning music again. Well, anyway, my desk has quite the setup. A pair of studio monitors, interface, CD burner, and my MacBook. Now, that I'm back into collecting music, I am usually staring at a pile of CD's that half the time I can never plow through no matter how hard I try. A friend on mine from Twitter named Andrew sent me a book of 300 discs from his personal collection this year, so there's never a shortage of music to listen to. That's the great thing about owning music. Looking through that stack and finding almost anything to fit your current mood. I also keep a stacked iTunes library that is either ripped from CD's or mp3's from my cloud collection.

That being said, I have so much physical and mp3 music that sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming. I'm always asking my Twitter followers for recommendations. My friend Thomas sent me an artist named Kiefer yesterday, and it couldn't have been at a more perfect time. It was some laid back instrumental stuff and it was the perfect interlude to take in while I was having conversations with the great social media group that I've become a part of.

I always find the best days for me are when I get up, grab my morning caffeine or juice, and just sit back and listen while doing whatever I need to get done that day. I can't work because I've had some serious struggles with my mental health over the years. That's the whole thing that comes back to the music. It helped me through so many dark times, well before the internet was a thing.

That's why I'm a big believer in owning what you love, whether it's books, video games, music, or movies. Having a collection is something to be proud of. I've seen many photos of other people's collections on social media, and I always enjoy them. It's good to see that there are still a few people left that enjoy collecting as much as I do.

Speaking of collecting, my new Gang Starr CD will be here today, and I can't wait to unpackage it and pop it in my CD player. Here's one for the road. R.I.P. Guru. Gang Starr 4EVER!!!!

Special shout out to Drew.
