It's been a week and I haven't posted shit. Had my mind on school and getting a passing grade in my Fundamentals of Music class. Sometimes life just happens.
Anyway, I've been soaking up some music this week as always. Been put on to a few artists like OG Style and Choice that were on Rap-a-Lot Records in the late 80s/early 90s and that got me listening to some of the classic Down South stuff like Geto Boys, 8Ball and MJG, Scarface, UGK, and Outkast.
It's always nice to approach things from a fresh perspective, because I think that I'm like a lot of music fans that get stuck in a rut of listening to the same stuff a lot, so even while I've been listening to a lot of stuff from the South the last couple days, I always try to mix it up with a little bit of stuff from both coasts so I don't get burned out on anything. I usually always throw in some r&b too in order to keep it exciting.
Also, I always try to find apps for mobile and desktop that will play my tunes in the highest quality. Yesterday, I re-activated my Tidal hifi subscription. One of the perks is that since I'm a student, I get it for half the regular rate, so that's definitely a plus. I also got Sennheiser's Captune app so I can have a few settings for equalization so it sounds even better.
I also discovered an mp3 player for Android phones last week. It's called PowerAmp and if you buy the full version which is 3.99 you get all these advanced tweaks in regards to the audio quality. I've played around with them quite a bit and I've always found that I keep going back to the CD quality setting, which is 16 bit, 44.1 Khz. Those are the frequencies that CD's are mastered in and they always sound the best to my well trained ears.
If you have music stored in Google's cloud, you can also download an app called MusicMate. It will let you download out of your cloud collection, which is great for me since I have about 40,000 tracks in the cloud. The only downside is that with the free version, you can only download 50 songs. However, I bought the full version, which is 3.99 also, just so I could get a kickin' collection on my phone.
One thing I definitely encourage fans to do is always collect music, because personally I find that the music I own is always the music I enjoy listening to the most. Scout out record stores in your area. Take a day to browse thrift shops and pawn shops to find some music. When you go to places like that you never know what you might find.
Anyway, here's a couple things for your listening pleasure this weekend. See you all very soon.
